Newsletter
Every other month members of Mississippi Market receive
by mail a copy of the Market Medley newsletter. Over the
last year most issues have been 12 pages in length. There
are several items common to each issue, including columns
by the General Manager, Board of Directors and a nutrition
story by a registered dietitian, Rebecca Schauer. In addition,
we strive to run informative stories covering topics we
believe to be of continuing interest to our member-owners,
including these ongoing sections:
Community Cooperator,
featuring stories relating to community building by our
co-op, area ‘sister” co-ops, or any other local
organizations. Many of these stories relate to upcoming
events sponsored by Mississippi Market or other TCNFC stores.
Shopping Close to Home,
most issues offer from one to four different stories on
local food producers or natural product manufacturers. Local
grower profiles usually include an interview with the farmer.
Our emphasis is on sharing the type of information with
members that helps them to make educated food choices and
supports local family run farms.
Slice of the Season,
this section often features seasonally topical content,
such as backyard grilling tips for summer or holiday entertaining
suggestions for the winter months. A steady feature is “Joe
and Nick’s Produce Picks” a shopper’s
cheat sheet for pending arrivals of fresh fruits and vegetables
over the next two months.
Green Scene, we added
this as a section for the 2005 Earth Day edition of the
newsletter. Our hope is that we have enough content based
on area environmental initiatives and eco-events that this
will be a steady section throughout the year.
Staff Spotlight, this section highlights a member of the co-op's 100+ staff.
