In 2013 we raised 25,585.33 dollars/pounds for our neighborhood food shelves! Thank you to all who donated & gave during the month of March.
Each March, Mississippi Market takes part in the Minnesota FoodShare March Campaign, a program of the Greater Minneapolis Council of Churches.
For each reusable bag that shoppers use at our stores they can choose to donate 5 cents toward the MN FoodShare through our EcoStamp program. Anyone can also round-up their purchases or donate a dollar amount at the registers.
And, check this out… Minnesota food co-ops together collected 100,271 dollars/pounds for our food shelves statewide!
Our partnership with food shelves offers them the opportunity to use their donation money to order fresh, organic, local and special foods from us at wholesale costs. By using these funds to purchase from local distributors and farmers, like J & J Produce and Co-op Partners Warehouse, our donations have a multiplying effect both on hunger in Minnesota and on the local food economy.
